The Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 577 Election Committee will soon accept nominations for positions to serve as officers of TWU Local 577 for the 2018-2021 term. These positions include:

  • President (1)
  • Vice-President (1)
  • Secretary-Treasurer (1)
  • Recording Secretary (1)
  • Board Members at Large (3)

Nominations for these positions will open on May 28th at 12:00 P.M. (Noon), PDT and close on June 11 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon), PDT. Voting will be conducted via paper ballots. Ballots will be mailed on June 27th to the last home address on file with TWU. The election will close on July 11 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) PDT and ballots will be counted the same day.

In order to nominate a candidate for office, you must visit the union website at (this page will not be accessible until nominations open). Please complete the nomination form in its entirety, and submit the form as directed. In order to make a nomination, you must be an active Member of TWU Local 577. Nominations must include the name, employee number, nominated position, valid personal email address, and valid phone number for the Member you are nominating.

All nominations must receive a second in order to be considered. Nominations can be seconded on the same page as nominations. The list of nominees will be updated regularly. Names may be removed from the list by request of the nominee or due to lack of eligibility. You may not nominate or yourself or second your own nomination.

In order to nominate (or second a nomination for) a candidate for office, receive a nomination for office, or vote in this election, you must be a Member in good standing of TWU Local 577. A Member in good standing is defined as not being an Agency Fee Objector (aka: an opt-outer) and not having dues in arrears.

Nominees will be notified of their nomination by electronic communication, which will include a copy of an acceptance letter and election rules, at the email address TWU has on file and/or at the email address provided by the nominator. Nominees may also download acceptance letters and election rules from the TWU Local 577 webpage after their nomination has been confirmed.

All nominees will have until June 21st at 12:00 P.M. (Noon), PDT to state the nomination and position they are accepting by emailing their acceptance letter to Nominees may not run for more than one office.

The person who receives the highest number of votes for President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Recording Secretary will be deemed the winner of those respective elections. The individuals who receive the top three highest vote totals for Board Member at Large will be certified as the winners of that election. In the event of a tie, lots will be drawn to determine the winner.
